Humdinger company which consists of only six employees, has successfully developed new technologies for generating energy from wind. When compared with conventional turbine technology, which consists of such rotor and gear box, Humdinger vote using aeroelastic membrane, which is next technology to generate electrical energy. Compared with piezoelectric-based system, has aeroelastic efficiency tenfold better. The electric power generated by the next generation technology of aerolastik could reach miliWatt and depending on wind speeds. The lowest wind speeds needed to produce energy is 3 meters per second, whereas with wind speeds reaching 5.5 meters per second power generated by 2 miliWatt.
According to Shawn Frayne, who serves as president of the Humdinger, the next generation technology of aeroelastic membrane will not deform when it vibrates like the usual plastic and the remaining life can survive up to 20 years.
What's interesting Humdinger system is a very cheap production costs due to the use of simple materials. According to Frayne, microBelt, the membrane used has a budget of almost the same range with one battery but the price of energy produced by aeroelastic membrane along with hundreds of battery remaining life.
Applications of next-generation technology of aeroelastic membrane is indeed small, but capable of generating electricity for wireless sensor systems are also manufactured by companies Humdinger. Aeroelastic plan will be applied in the cooling system of the building, where other devices of smaller size can not work according to needs, such as in solar cells do not work because no light received cells in the system.
Likewise with thermocell who do not respond to temperature changes in the system is very low. When the membrane of aeroelastic of a Humdinger effective work in smaller dimensions, it is possible aeroelastic size enlarged to get more energy from wind than needed to generate greater power as well.
