Submarine Optical Cable Held Saudi Arabia

South Korean consortium,), Korean Engineering Middle East (KMEE) consisting of four companies to win projects worth USD1 billion for the procurement of optical fiber cables in Saudi Arabia. According to the Bureau of South Korea Trade and Investment Promotion (KTIPA) South Korean companies will be working on projects in the telecommunications giant with Integrated Telecom Company, Saudi Arabia.

The project will connect the telecommunications network to other countries like Sudan, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates dams. Projects that use technology to the next generation of submarine cables was planned to operate in 2013. "Since Dubai has the debt crisis, Saudi Arabia became so attractive in the market and this is good for business firms in South Korea," said Kwan-Seok Lee, Chairman of the Korean Business Center in Riyadh yesterday.

Lee added that it expected an agreement could create new opportunities for company-Korea perusaaan in Saudi Arabia, not only in the cable project. He also hopes the company can compete with South Korea that China's first company to expand. "This project shows that we have high technology," said Lee.
